Happy Halloween!

We started our celebration of the Haunted Holiday yesterday (which was also rainy and cold here) by carving pumpkins! Andy helped us get started by cutting the pumpkins open and helping us scoop the "guts" out!
Next, Kallie, Emma and I traced patterns from a carving pumpkin book we have onto the pumpkins. Kallie choose a BOO! design, Emma chose a bat, and I chose a mummy.
Long after Kallie and Emma's pumpkins were finished (Andy did a great job carving them) and he had set them out on the front porch with candles inside, I was still carving, so he made delicious chicken noodle soup! YUMMM!! And I finally got the mummy finished! Here are the pumpkins! Kallie's BOO!:

As we were finishing dinner, our neighbors and friends came trick-or-treating at our house! Kallie and Emma wanted to trick-or-treat with them so we quickly changed the girls into costumes (Emma decided to be Cinderella for trick-or-treating) and then ran out the door in search of sugar! Here are Kallie and Emma with our neighbor, Brynlee (who was a fairy).

After treat-or-treating around the neighborhood, we went to Grandpa and Grandma Lund's house to show off costumes. Here's our little Thumbelina enjoying a treat on their couch!

What a fun night! Here's the happiest part of the story: This morning Andy told the girls he would buy their candy from them so they would not get a mouth full of cavities! They were happy to choose 10 pieces of candy each and trade the rest for $1.25! Oh, there is a happily ever after to Halloween after all! :)
